Gregg McDougal is a trial lawyer who has a national practice with 30 years of experience representing clients in complex business litigation and catastrophic personal injury matters. He represents both Plaintiffs and Defendants in all types of complex litigation, including litigation arising from mergers and acquisitions, contract disputes, trade secret issues, insurance coverage issues for policyholders, fraud disputes and catastrophic personal injury matters. Mr. McDougal often manages clients’ litigation with alternative fee arrangements. Mr. McDougal has served as lead counsel in numerous high profile cases, representing five-time Olympic medalist Marion Jones in a defamation suit; Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Tiger Woods; a well-known football coach after his termination from a large university; Duke University in matters arising out of allegations made against members of the Duke men’s lacrosse team; a Malaysian corporation in a breach of contract action against singer-songwriter and actor Kenny Rogers, and a notable International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) arbitration matter in Japan. He has represented many well-known Fortune 500 Corporations and executives throughout the United States. In addition to his corporate representation, Mr. McDougal has extensive experience successfully representing clients in wrongful death suits and catastrophic personal injury matters. Several of the catastrophic personal injury matters that Mr. McDougal has handled have received significant national media attention. Mr. McDougal is the only North Carolina attorney profiled in Law360’s inaugural “trial pros” series, which features his extensive trial experience. Denton Worrell focuses his practice in the areas of general business and financial litigation, and appeals. His extensive business, financial, and legal background bring a unique perspective for our clients. Denton clerked for Justice Paul M. Newby on the Supreme Court of North Carolina, primarily handling Business Court and complex civil appeals. He was Editor-In-Chief of the Wake Forest Law Review, and was also selected by the faculty for the prestigious Dean’s Leadership Award. Prior to practicing law, he worked in wealth management and finance in Charlotte for over ten years, helping to establish and develop an independent registered investment advisory firm. As a Certified Financial Planner, he represented clients throughout the Southeast on various financial transactions, securities and investments, and corporate matters. He has extensive insurance experience and is a Chartered Life Underwriter with the American College. He has represented corporations throughout the country in various corporate disputes, as well as individuals in litigation against corporations, and individuals in catastrophic personal injury matters.
